Sunflower Farmers Market is set to anchor an upcoming retail development along East Colfax Avenue. The new construction will take place at the vacant Rosen-Novak and Elway car dealerships close to Colorado Boulevard.
Retail developer Evergreen Development and the Rosen family of Denver, which owns the land, unveiled the plans last week. In addition to Sunflower Farmers Market, the development will house many restaurants and shops.
The new development means that Sunflower Farmers Market will now have an East Denver location. The company also explored a Park hill location on East 34th Avenue, but the East Colfax Avenue location is preferable based on traffic counts, gradual redevelopments, and neighborhood density.
Construction for the new development will begin early next year and should be completed by the end of 2012. Tyler Carlson, vice president of Evergreen Development, says that residents are happy that the Sunflower Farmers Market is coming to their neighborhood. The store is known for its bare-bones shopping that gives consumers the lowest prices possible.
